An elderly Greek couple from the town of Volos died from the coronavirus just one day apart, it was announced on Thursday.
The 90-year-old man and his 86-year-old wife had been hospitalized for one week at the Achillopouleio Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
The man died in the early hours of Tuesday, while his wife for almost 60 years died on Wednesday.
Their deaths have shocked the local community in the city of Volos, where twelve people have already lost their lives due to the virus.
According to the local website taxydromos.gr, doctors at the hospital said that the couple also suffered from other underlying health problems.
