President Trump Discharged from Hospital, Returns to White House

With the blessing of his team of personal physicians at Walter Reed Naval Medical Center in Maryland, President Trump returned to the White House on Monday evening after spending a long weekend hospitalized for Covid-19.

In one of a storm of Tweets the President released on Monday, he announced his imminent departure from the hospital, saying “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M.
“Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”

However, the medical team which had tended to the President since his hospitalization on Friday warned that Trump “may not entirely be out of the woods yet.”

There is widespread speculation that the President may have contracted the coronavirus early last week, so it may well be that he may still suffer ongoing symptoms for a time.

Just as he had gone into the helicopter taking him to Walter Reed, Trump strode out of the hospital wearing a suit and sporting a facemask. He gave a low fist pump to onlookers and gave his usual thumbs-up to reporters as he got into his armored black SUV for the short trip to his helicopter.

The President had unleashed a Twitter storm early Monday, urging the American public to vote in a long string of Tweets, interspersing those with one which said promisingly that he was “feeling really good!”

In a dash of what must have been hyperbole in the midst of his high spirits, the President added: “I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”

Not missing a beat, as soon as the President entered the White House, he walked out on the balcony and, surrounded by American flags, saluted the military officers who had accompanied him on Marine One for the trip back from the hospital.

Naval Commander Dr. Sean Conley, the President’s personal physician, had stated that despite the possibility that Trump may yet experience some symptoms or aftereffects of Covid-19, his “clinical status supports the president’s safe return home.”

The White House has medical personnel available 24/7, Conley emphasized, before adding that the President had already met what he called “most of his discharge requirements” on yesterday afternoon.

He then noted “We try to get patients out of the hospital as quickly as possible. There is nothing being done here that we can’t safely do at home.”

Conley stated that “We all remain cautiously optimistic and on guard because we’re in a bit of uncharted territory when it comes to a patient who received the therapies he has.”

Despite the fact that Trump is President of the United States, Conley reminded the press that HIPAA requirements preclude him as a physician from revealing some details concerning Trump’s treatment and health.

Members of the medical team treating the president told reporters that Trump, despite showing a mild temperature on Friday, has not been on any fever-reducing medicine for over 72 hours, nor does he currently suffer from any “respiratory complaints.”

Trump, who had previously been a champion of Remdesvir and other drug therapies, has been taking the drug for several days and received his fourth round of it before he was discharged from the hospital this evening.

He will receive his fifth and last dose on Tuesday at the White House.

While hospitalized, the President also took the drugs REGN-COV-2, a newly-developed type of monoclonal antibody treatment made by Regeneron, along with decamethasone, a steroid used to calm the immune system.

Not losing any time, Trump even Tweeted a video at approximately 8 PM on Monday evening after his return home.
