Greece Announces 269 More Coronavirus Cases, Tying Record; No Deaths

Greece’s Public Heath Authority, EODY, announced on Thursday that there had been 269 new cases of the coronavirus detected in the country over the last day, tying the record, which was set earlier this week. However, no deaths attributable to the virus were recorded in the last 24 hours, keeping the death  toll at 235.
In a continuing trend, only 11 of these cases were picked up at the nation’s entrance points and border gates. The total number of cases in the country is now 7, 934, of which 55.3% are male.
A total of 1,783, or 22.5% are known to be related to foreign travel, while 3,658, or 46.1%, are connected to an already-known case.

Thirty people across Greece, with an average age of 68 years, are now being treated by intubation. As in previous days, seven, or 23.3%, of these people are female. Almost half, or 46.7%, suffer from an underlying disease or are age 70 or more. As of now, a total of 140 patients across Greece have been discharged form ICUs.

Eighty-two, or 34.9%, of coronavirus-related fatalities in Greece were female. Their average age was 77; 95.3 percent of them suffered from an underlying disease and/or were age 70 and over.
+++ There were eight total cases of the coronavirus detected in those who had presented themselves voluntarily for testing. Currently, 90 of the total cases nationally are in the region of Attica and 67 in Thessaloniki and 15 in the Cyclades island archipelago.
