The sharp increase in tensions between Greece and Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean was addressed by EU President Charles Michel on Wednesday, after a teleconference called in Brussels to address the ongoing unrest in Belarus.
The EU head placed the Union’s full support behind Greece in the face of Turkey’s incursions in the seas between the Greek island of Greece and the island nation of Cyprus, saying definitively that “all options are on the table.”
Stating before the world press, assembled for a press conference after the conclusion of the specially-called conference, Michel stated “We had the opportunity to discuss the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean. This issue and our relations with Turkey have been raised by different Member States.
“We expressed our full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus and reaffirmed our previous findings on illegal drilling activities. We agreed to return in September. All options are on the table. ”
