Large Fire Breaks Out in Chania, Crete

Firefighters are on the scene of a large fire that broke out in Chania, Crete on Wednesday. According to sources in the fire department, the blaze broke out in an agricultural and forested area in D.E. Pelekanos in the municipality of Kandanos-Selinos, in Chania.
A total of 34 firefighters and sixteen vehicles are now working the fire, after reinforcements were requested after the initial 20 firefighters were unable to contain the blaze.
A helicopter has also been seen trying to extinguish the flames using water drops.
There is currently no danger to any residential area.
