Greek Man Recovers After Contracting Coronavirus, Influenza and Pneumonia Simultaneously

Alexis Alexiou, a Greek man from Athens, recovered from three entirely different, serious infections he suffered simultaneously in the space of seventeen days, according to a Facebook post he uploaded on Wednesday night.
Alexiou, a radio producer, announced joyfully in his post ”after 24 days of being ill and 17 days of being hospitalized, I’m at home!”
Alexiou had somehow become infected with type B influenza, the new COVID-19 coronavirus and also suffered from serious pneumonia — all of these simultaneously!
”We won together!” the radio producer announced in his Facebook post, giving a huge ”thank you” to all the doctors, nurses, and cleaners at Thriasio General Hospital of Elefsina in Attica.
”This battle wouldn’t have been won without the help of the doctors, the heroic nurses and the cleaners of the hospital,” Alexiou wrote.
”Humans have huge strengths inside them,” Alexiou’s post stated. ”However, some are desperate. A guy next to me tried to jump (out of the window of the hospital) and the heroic nurses saved him!” he related.
This is not the first story of suicide or attempted suicide to come to light during this pandemic, and shows firsthand that mental health is yet another huge issue in these times.
According to Alexiou, the manager of the hospital told him that his condition was as if he had fallen off of the Acropolis — and yet had somehow managed to stand back up on his own feet.
The almost-unbelievable story of this man is a living example of hope and light in these dark and unsettling moments for all of humanity.
Alexiou also had an important message to those who smoke, as he wrote ”stay away from cigarettes! If I had been a smoker, I wouldn’t be alive right now.”
