Air China will cancel all its direct flights to and from Greece, it was made public on Wednesday.
The temporary measure comes as an extra step of precaution since Chinese officials are desperately trying to limit the expansion of the ”Covid-19coronavirus outbreak.
From February 17 to March 18 all direct flights from Athens to Beijing and Beijing to Athens will be canceled, an Air China official based in Athens stated.
The flights are scheduled to return to their regular timetable beginning in late March.
“The reason is public safety because of the coronavirus and there are operational reasons as well,” the official stated.
