Greek Police Storm Anarchist Squats in Athens (video)

Greek police launched on Wednesday morning a large operation to evacuate three buildings in the central Athens district of Koukaki which had been used as squats by self-styled anarchists.
Officers entered the buildings, located on Matrozou, Panaitoliou and Arvali Streets, at 7 a.m.
At the Matrozou squat, anarchists resisted by climbing on the terrace of the building and throwing rocks and pieces of furniture at the police, who responded by using tear gas. Reports said two people were detained during the operation.

A woman being arrested by the police during today’s operation.

The evacuations are part of a pledge by Citizens’ Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis to clear out fifteen such anarchist-run squats in different parts of the Greek capital by the end of the year.
