An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale hit the Dodecanese islands in Greece on Wednesday afternoon.
The quake took place at 3 o’clock in the afternoon local time, 41 kilometers (25 miles) northeast of the island of Karpathos and 100 kilometers (62 miles) southwest of Rhodes.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the magnitude of the quake is currently measured at 4.9 and its depth is estimated to be 30 kilometers (19 miles) under the sea.
The tremor was felt throughout the Dodecanese islands, but no damage has been reported thus far.
