The FX network recently announced that the season finale of the Zach Galifianakis comedy “Baskets” on August 22 will also be the series finale, as the show will be ending after four seasons on the air.
Eric Schrier, the Entertainment President for FX, stated “Over four seasons, Baskets has taken its place among the great FX comedies as an endearing and hilarious look at the dreams and ambition of Chip Baskets and his extended, loving family.
“This show has been a joy for everyone at FX and we are grateful to Jonathan Krisel, Zach Galifianakis, Louie Anderson, Martha Kelly and the rest of the cast and crew for giving us the gem that is ‘Baskets’” he concluded.
Zach Galifianakis received an Emmy nomination for his lead role as Chip Baskets in the series, while co-star Louie Anderson won an Emmy for his role on the show.
Although “Baskets” received a great deal of critical attention and acclaim, the show was considered a niche comedy and had just average ratings.
Galifianakis has several other projects to keep him busy, however, as a few months ago Netflix announced that they want to make Zach’s hosting comedy show, “Between Two Ferns”, into a feature film.
