A 55-year-old man in Larisa, central Greece, was arrested on Friday. He was found in possession of 693 ancient coins and other items during a coordinated operation conducted by the police.
The man was brought before the public prosecutor of Larisa on charges of violating laws on the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage.
The items are being held by the authorities until they can be turned over to the relevant culture ministry departments for further evaluation.
