Greece: Amendment to Highway Code Adds Compulsory Driving Test For the Elderly

An amendment of the Highway Code passed by the Greek Government, will require drivers over 74-years-old to undergo a driving test in order to keep their licence.

The decision taken by Christos Spirtzis, Minister of Transport, includes a driving test every three years thereafter and every other year for those over the age of 80.
The measure will be added as a requirement to the already necessary paperwork provided by doctors, with the aim of reducing accidents caused by individuals over the age of 74.
