Greek Seamen End Strike


The federation of Greek Seamen (PNO) decided to suspend the strike with immediate effect on Tuesday bringing a sigh of relief to thousands of travelers stranded in popular island destinations.
According to an announcement from PNO, the deadlock was broken after ferry operators offered a pay rise of 2 percent for 2018, to go into effect retroactively from January 1.
Ferry companies, estimate that up to 300,000 passengers have been stranded due to the strike that begun on Monday morning and warn that the backlog of passengers and goods will take days to clear.
