Greek Authorities have No Data on Missing Persons 6 Days after Killer Blazes

It has been six days after the deadly East Attica blazes that killed 88 people and injured hundreds, but Greek authorities have not presented any data on the number of missing persons.
At Thursday’s press conference, Deputy Citizen Protection Minister Nikos Toskas spoke of “dozens” of missing persons. The Fire Department that has the jurisdiction on finding the missing persons after a fire has not come up with any actual figures of people missing.
The anguish of people who miss family members, relatives and friends escalates as the ongoing search missions by firemen, police, coast guard and volunteers continue in East Attica.
The Fire Department is officially collecting information on missing persons and urges citizens to report the absence of their loved ones by calling 199. However, the Fire Department can not provide any data on the number of missing persons.
Many individuals search for their loved ones on their own initiative. An online platform has been created where relatives provide information and ask people to notify them if they have any information about their family or friends.
