Missing 13-Year-Old after Deadly Athens Fires Found Dead

Dimitris Alexopoulos, the 13-year-old boy reported missing after the deadly East Attica fires was identified on Saturday as one of the fatalities.
The teenager whose pictures were on Amber Alert issued by the Smile of the Child Foundation was confirmed dead.
Alexopoulos had disappeared at Mati on Monday during the chaos caused by the fires. A picture of his was posted on social media and created hope that he may still be alive somewhere.
The teenager was with his grandmother at Kokkino Limanaki beach before they both disappeared on Monday afternoon. His father had appealed for information about his whereabouts to no avail.
The announcement from Smile of the Child on Saturday afternoon confirmed the worst outcome of the search:
“On 28/7/2018, at 15:00, we were by the mother of Dimitris Alexopoulos, that her son, who was missing from Mati, Attica, was identified as dead among the dozens of victims of the deadly fire.”
