CSKA thrashes AEK’s cause to celebrate building permit of new stadium
AEK wished to combine the news of obtaining the construction permit to build a new football ground at Nea Philadelphia with a good showing against CSKA Moscow, but the Russian team thrashed the dreams of about 35,000 fans.
The Greek side started well putting heavy pressure on the visitors, but the more experienced team managed to balance the game.
The last minute of the first half was critical as Alan Djagoev headed the ball home from a corner kick from the right.
AEK players seemed to have lost confidence when coming back for the second half, making it easier for the Russian team. Only 11 minutes into the second half, the visitors managed to put an end to the Greek side’s hopes in the same way. Another corner kick and this time it was Pontus Wernbloom who put the ball in the net.
