Hollywood has decided to revive one of the most classic US talent shows, “The Gong Show”, with an all new cast of wacky, comic judges, and host Mike Myers leading the proceedings.
The judges for the premiere of the show, which will take place on Thursday, June 22 at 10 PM on ABC, include Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, and Will Arnett (who is also an executive producer on the show).
Galifianakis and Jeong have previously co-starred in the “Hangover” movies together; however, this does not translate to agreement on the show, as the judges often have vastly different opinions on the performers.
When you watch the premiere, you may be forgiven for not recognizing Mike Myers, who is made up and disguised in the form of Tommy Maitland, a “British comic legend” (and Myers’ creation), who frequently takes jabs at the contestants.
As opposed to many current talent shows, the acts can sometimes verge on the ridiculous, with extravagantly costumed people giving performances that merge the insane and the unique. Check the new “Gong Show” out on ABC, and see what you think!
