FYROM Opens Borders to Only 100 Refugees

Prosfyges Eidomeni
FYROM authorities announced this morning that they will allow only 100 refugees to pass through the borders. In the meantime, the situation continues to be strained, as the camp in Idomeni hosts over 3,000 people, the former military camp in Diavata in Thessaloniki hosts about 2,000 and it is estimated that in various places in Greece, there are dozens of buses with 5,000 refugees and migrants.
FYROM shut down its borders since last night and re-opened them on Wednesday morning, to allow the passage to only 100 refugees. Given the situation in Idomeni and the ongoing refugee and migrant flows from Turkey, Greece has been filled with desperate people who cannot be accommodated in the various hotspots.
A characteristic of the extremely slow flows, is the fact that yesterday, only 250 refugees and migrants were allowed to pass, whereas in the previous months, there had been days when up to 2,000 people crossed the borders between Greece and FYROM.
