Heavy snowfall has been recorded across Greece from early Wednesday. Central Greece is covered in snow and traffic in the mountainous areas is only conducted with the use of snow chains on vehicles.
Problems have been reported on the Athens-Thessaloniki route, particularly at Martino, where a large number of snow graders are working to keep the road open.
Below zero temperatures are recorded in all the regions of Central and Western Macedonia with the lowest one in the city of Florina (-12C) and Ptolemaida (-11C).
Intense snowfall was reported on all the mountainous regions of Peloponnese.
Rain is falling in Athens from early Wednesday and temperatures are ranging between 04C – 09C.
