Professional Climber Aamodt 'Relaxes' on Greek Cliff

Rannveig-AamodtNorwegian national Rannveig Aamodt is a 31-year-old professional rock climber, author, photographer, and speaker who splits her time between Norway and Colorado. She also coaches a youth climbing team in Norway and is a certified yoga instructor. She has spent many years in school studying alternative veterinary medicine.
In April 2012, the fearless climber broke her back, her ankles, pelvis, and elbow after a 15m fall in Turkey. She was in a wheelchair for two months and had to re-learn how to walk, but through rigorous training and a lot of determination, she managed to get back on her feet and continue with her risky lifestyle.
Aamodt traveled to Greece with her husband in order to climb the rock cliff at St Photis on the Greek island of Kalymnos. Mid-way through the hard rock-climbing adventure the couple stopped so that Aamodt could take a series of breathtaking photos, snapped by her husband Nathan Welton.
“The route is about 98 to 114 feet long and climbs through a cave that is 45 degrees overhanging. It’s a stunning location because the cliff is high up on a steep hillside, above the ocean in a wild section of coastline – it’s absolutely beautiful,” Rannveig said to the Daily Mail online. “At the end of a very steep section of climbing, when your arms are tired, finding a double knee bar like this is a gift! I am probably about 65 feet off the ground, but it felt much higher because of the position of the cliff on the steep hillside,” she added.
