Two Greek Cabinet Members Allegedly Probed for Hidden Income

parliamentTwo Greek cabinet members and two former MPs will be allegedly probed by the special parliamentary Audit Committee for Declarations of Assets.
According to a Mega television report, a minister of the newly formed cabinet had income of 1 million euros he failed to declare in the past three years and declared it this year in an additional statement.
Another minister is allegedly shareholder in a private company, something that is not allowed for a member of government.
In addition, two former Members of Parliament allegedly have discrepancies in their income declaration, such as failing to declare incomes or not presenting appropriate documents.
Former head of the audit committee Despoina Charalampidou confirmed the issue to Proto Thema newspaper, saying that she has informed the new president of the committee, Giorgos Veremenos.
Charalampidou said that the case files are still open. She added that there are four more cases being investigated for the year 2012. She said that 10 members of Greek Parliament failed to even submit their assets statements whereas 31 were unable to justify their assets and 20 appeared to have zero bank deposits.
According to Proto Thema, Varemenos denied that he has spoken to Charalampidou on the issue.
