Online Travel Agency Airfasttickets Ceases Operations

airfastticketsAirfasttickets, an online agency issuing tickets from the USA, Greece and the U.K. has ceazed operations, while its employees in Greece remain unpaid for the last three months.
The company took its websites offline on September 14 and closed its call center, while its social media pages haven’t been updated in more than 40 days.
Airfasttickets employees in Greece that remain unpaid for the past three months, said that the company’s shareholders had tried to sell their shares to a Chinese investment group unsuccessfully.
The travel agency had been the target of Greek and international media accusing the online travel agency for unfair competition and bringing to the spotlight complains that include non-refunded tickets after they were cancelled by the company.
Several online travel agencies such as pamediakopes.gr, viva.gr, airtickets.gr and travelplanet24.gr, have filed a suit against the company for unfair competition practices and selling tickets at lower than wholesale prices.
Last year, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) had blocked the company from all ticket services in Greece, Germany and the United Kingdom saying AirfastTickets owes money to the Airline companies.
A search in online forums shows customers posed major complains about the company, often talking of ticket cancellations after they were booked and not being given the advertised prices by the site.
Last year, a Greek Reporter employee trying to book an airfare to New York was not able to buy the advertised ticket price after 16 failed attempts to book the ticket. The site would always give out a warning and offer a much higher price to the user after clicking the ‘buy’ button.
Before taking its sites offline on September 14, Airfasttickets had definitely created a brand after running very aggressive advertising campaigns in key places around the world such as New York City and London Cube.
The startup company was founded three years ago by Nikos Koklonis, to offer fares at the lowest prices in the market.
