Greece's Development Minister Lafazanis May Vote Against Proposal

Panagiotis Lafazanis, the leader of SYRIZA’s “Left Platform” and Minister of Productive Reconstruction, Energy and Environment said he may not vote in favor of the proposal Greece sent to creditors when it is tabled in parliament.
During the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group and Political Secretariat joint meeting, Lafazanis said that the proposal does not coincide with the party’s program and hinted that he may vote against it in parliament.
Lafazanis disagreed yesterday with the Greek government’s bailout proposal that was sent to the creditors, and the document wasn’t signed by him.
Greece sent a final draft of the reforms the country will do in exchange to receive a bailout loan and avoid a financial collapse and possible exit from the Eurozone.

“Greece seeks to reach an agreement with the institutions immediately, but we want an agreement that will respect the country and the people’s dignity, and that will open windows for a way out of the crisis. We do not want to add a third Memorandum of harsh austerity, suffering and deprivation to the two previous ones without offering a prospect to the country,”Panagiotis Lafazanis stated at an event on Thursday night.

He said that the Greek people said no to a new memorandum, adding that, “at this point all choices are difficult.”
“The worst, the most humiliating and unbearable one, is an agreement of surrender, looting and subordination of the people and the country.”
“This choice is something we will never do,” the “Left Platform” leader concluded.
SYRIZA members denied resignation rumors about Lafazanis early Friday although no official announcement has been issued.
