“The Greek government presented a broad, comprehensive and credible proposal on Thursday’s Eurogroup that can constitute the foundation of the agreement ,” Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said at the ECOFIN meeting.
Varoufakis stressed that the Greek proposal “not only completes the existing loan agreement between Greece and its creditors but also deals decisively and permanently with the country’s financing gap for the future.”
Moreover, the Finance Minister said in an announcement: “Unfortunately, no discussion on this proposal was allowed at the Eurogroup. Instead of this necessary debate, unauthorized “leaks” over the Greek banking system occurred immediately after the Eurogroup.
The Greek government considers that these failures are conflicting with the public interest of the peoples of Europe and at the same time welcomes Monday’s emergency Eurogroup.
All parties involved will have the opportunity to prepare for a successful Summit. The eyes of the Europeans, both within and outside the Eurozone, are on us. We have a duty to reach to the required agreement-solution for the benefit of all of Europe.”
