Most Germans Want Greece in the Euro Zone

Europe Wrestles With Debt CrisisThe majority of German citizens would like to see Greece remain in the euro zone, an attitude that has changed over the last three years.
A new poll conducted for German public television ARD shows that 51 percent of respondents want Greece to remain in the common currency of the 19 Member States of the European Union.
Meanwhile, 41 percent of Germans would like for Greece to exit the euro zone.
However, there is a change in German public opinion regarding Greece’s place in the euro zone. In similar surveys three years ago, 65 percent of respondents said that Greece should not be in the common currency.
The research was conducted on a sample of 1,023 people on Tuesday and Wednesday in light of negotiations between Greece and its European partners on the debt issue.
