Alexis Tsipras' Partner Stays Behind the Scenes

περιστεραSYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras‘ partner has come out of the sidelines now that the election campaign is over and Tsipras will be most likely Greece’s new Prime Minister.
Peristera or Betty Baziana has preferred not to make public appearances all this time that her partner was campaigning with his leftist party. Also, in the past, their public appearances were few and far between.
Last summer, “paparazzi” captured the SYRIZA leader and his wife in the Herodes Atticus Odeon and the Athens Concert Hall. They also saw them together in the island of Aegina with friends. Last time they were spotted together was at the end of September 2014, at the wedding ceremony of SYRIZA MP Zoe Konstantopoulou.
38-year-old Baziana was born in Karditsa, Greece, and spent her teenage years in social and political activism as member of the Greek Communist Party Youth (KNE). A restless spirit, she graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Patras.
τσιπροπαιδαShe met Tsipras while they were students at the Ampelokipi High School and Betty has been his muse and supporting companion in his political career. They were together in the 1990 school occupations and their common political beliefs are a strong bond in their common law marriage. They both declare that they don’t believe in the traditional marriage institution and they live together for 17 years. They are also against social conventions and have not christened their two children in church.
Their first child was born in May 2010 and was named Pavlos in a naming ceremony at the Athens Town Hall. Their second son was born in June 2012 and, in a naming ceremony at the Aegina Town Hall, he was named Orpheus and Ernesto, after Che Guevara, a hero of Tsipras.
