Four New Opinion Polls Show SYRIZA Lead Over ND

opinion pollMain opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leads over New Democracy (ND), according to four opinion polls conducted by Metron Analysis, Rass, Palmos Analysis and GPO on behalf of the newspapers Parapolitika, and Ependissi, the news website TVXS and private Mega TV respectively, it was announced on Thursday.
According to the opinion poll in Parapolitika newspaper, conducted by Metron Analysis, that will be published on Friday, SYRIZA is given a lead of 4.4% over ND in voting intent and 5.3% lead be respondents to the question which party they believe will be the winner in Sunday’s elections.
SYRIZA is preferred by 29.6% of the respondents followed by ND 25.2%, To Potami 5.9%, Golden Dawn (GD) 4.4%, Communist Party (KKE) 4%, Independent Greeks (ANEL) 3.5%, PASOK 3.3%, Movement of Democratic Socialists (Kinima) 1.4% and Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) 1%. “Other party” was selected by 3.9% of those taking the survey, while 2.6% said they would cast a blank ballot, 6.1% said they will abstain, 8.1% were undecided and 1% did not answer.
Extrapolating the percentages by discounting invalid votes, SYRIZA will have a lead of 5.3% and receive 36% of the vote, ND 30.7%, To Potami 7.2%, GD 5.4%, KKE 4.9%, ANEL 4.2%, PASOK 4%, Kinima 1.6%, LAOS 1.2% and “other party” 4.8%
The nationwide opinion poll was conducted on January 19-21.
The opinion poll conducted by Rass, to be published tomorrow in the newspaper Ependissi, gives SYRIZA a 4.8% lead over ND in voting intent.
SYRIZA gets 31.3%, ND 26.5%, To Potami 6.4%, KKE 5.4%, GD 5.1%, PASOK 4.3%, ANEL 3.8% and Kinima 2.5%. “Other party” 5.5%, while 1% will cast a blank ballot and 8.2% are undecided.
The nationwide opinion poll was conducted on January 20-21.
According to the opinion poll by Palmos Analysis on behalf of website TVXS.gr, SYRIZA has a lead of 9.9% over ND in voting intent.
SYRIZA is preferred by 30.2% of the respondents and ND gets 20.3% (according to the opinion poll conducted by the same polling company on January 12-15, the two parties got 28.7% and 21.8% respectively).
Third placed is GD with 6.8%, followed by To Potami 5.1%, KKE 4.3%, PASOK 3.4%, ANEL 2.2%, Kinima 1.7% and LAOS 1.3%. “Other party” 4.5%, 15.2% are undecided, while 1.8% will cast a blank ballot, 2.7% will abstain and 0.6% did not respond.
SYRIZA will be the winner in Sunday’s elections according to 77% of the respondents, 11% think that ND will win, “other party” 1% and 11% did not respond.
The nationwide opinion poll was conducted on January 19-22.
The fourth poll by GPO shows main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) leads by 6 percentage points over main coalition partner New Democracy (ND) in voting intent.
In the survey, conducted on behalf of private TV Mega and published on Thursday, 32.5% of respondents said they would vote for SYRIZA “if general elections were held tomorrow”, while 26.5% chose ND. Third place is To Potami with 5.8%, followed by Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avgi) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) with 5%, PASOK with 4.4%, Independent Greeks (ANEL) with 3.4%, the Movement of Democratic Socialists (Movement) with 3%, Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) with 1.4% and Greens – Democratic Left (DIMAR) with 1%. “Other party” said 1.6%, while 0.4% said they would cast a blank or invalid ballot. The unidentified vote reached 10%.
Asked “who is more suitable for prime minister,” current premier and ND leader Antonis Samaras was preferred by 40.1% followed by SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras with 38.2%. A further 19.6% of the respondents said none of the above.
The nationwide survey was conducted on January 20-22.
