A group of Greek university students designed a revolutionary high heel shoe that instantly turns to flat and can change women’s lives.
The Greek students are all majoring in Economics at the Democritus University of Thrace and though of the idea as they have seen women carrying around different pairs of shoes in the daily elegance vs comfort struggle. The new foldable high-heel shoe is an innovation that will fulfill the needs of women who want to combine style with comfort.
Lukas Karakikes, Athena Tsiligaridis and Calliope Tatsis, with the assistance of Professor Periklis Gogas and PhD candidate Efthymia Chrysanthidou, founded the brand SkyWalker SA which manufactures the innovative shoe in a small workshop in Komotini, northern Greece.
“Looking at the market and the daily lives of women, observing how they are engaged in various activities throughout the day, like going to work, for coffee or a drink, we came to the conclusion that they are in constant need of a shoe that can be “altered” on demand to meet their constantly changing needs during the day,” Loukas Karatides said to Athens Macedonian News Agency.
“This product is intended to make the life of women more easy and elegant.”
“This boot-shoe has a special mechanism that will convert a flat shoe into a high-heeled one and vice versa,” he said. “Our main goal is to meet the needs of consumers who can do all their activities without having to change shoes during the day.”
According to Karakides, “the product will enable female customers to be flexible and comfortable during their daily activities without the need to change shoes.’
It offers them the comfort to do anything from morning until evening away from home and be able, at any moment, to convert and customize their shoes according to their needs. This innivative mechanism promises to change women’s shoes from ultra high-heels to simple flat shoes.
Currently, there is no company that produces the shoe SkyWalker SA has created, something that is estimated to contribute to the success of the product when it hits the market.
SkyWalker SA is in the process of making contacts with various companies for mass-manufacturing so their new product is expected to hit the market within 2014. The company is also attempting to improve the mechanism so that it can fit to more types of footwear.
