The 9-Year-Old Greek Girl Who Charmed Australian MPs

christa-dracopoulosA nine-year-old Greek-Australian girl spoke in the Australian Parliament, proving the power of a human that is fighting to deal with life’s difficulties.

Christa Dracopoulos was born with a hearing impairment which was soon diagnosed. She received a cochlear implant, an Australian invention, which gave her the ability to hear normally and attend regular schools, like all children of her age.

Christa, who also speaks Greek, spoke in the House of Canberra during the event “The Power of Speech”, organized by the charity organization “The Shepherd’s Centre.” Twelve children aged 6 to 12 years-old took part in the event and talked about their experiences.

The Shepherd’s Centre is providing services to children who are deaf or hearing impaired, improving the quality of their lives. The organization, with its early diagnosis and intervention program, is providing great assistance to children with hearing difficulties.
