Deadline for Tax Returns Running Out

There are currently 2,500,000 Greek taxpayers who are required to submit their tax returns by July 1st.
Compared to last year’s taxes, an increase in taxation of self-employed and renters is expected, according to accountants, while taxes of employees and pensioners will remain at the same levels as last year.
With only six days left for the electronic submission of tax declarations, the Ministry of Finance in Greece fears that many taxpayers are hesitant, hoping that a possible delay in the submission consideration will lead to the postponement of the payment deadline.
However, according to the Ministry of Finance a deadline extension would not necessarily solve the problems. In its effort to convince taxpayers to submit their tax return, the Ministry announced that the social and family benefits may be at risk.
