Greek Female Boxer to Make History

maxresdefaultThe Greek female Super- Featherweight boxer Areti Mastrodouka, is about to make history on Saturday, March 29 2014, as she participates in the first ever bout to be held in Greece. Areti Mastrodouka runs a 6-0 unbeatable record. The 37-year-old Greek will face the Slovakian Claudia Ferenci. This is Areti’s 7th fight as a professional boxer and she is about to chase another World Title.
All of Mastrodouka’s previous professional bouts were held at the famous York Hall in Bethal, London. Consequently, the southpaw Greek boxer has been traveling from her country in order to train under the guidance of Alec Wilkey alongside the rest of his team who are based at Lansbury ABC in Poplar.
Mastrodoukas won her first professional title back in November 2012, when she won the International Masters Title by beating Lana Cooper.
Areti’s nickname is “The Master.” A name she earned due to her illustrious amateur career. In particular, she won a Silver Medal at the 2002 World Championship and a Bronze medal at the European Championship a year later. Female boxing has gained popularity in Greece due to Areti’s success. Areti introduced herself in Greece during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Areti’s recent success could attract more young people to start a career as a professional boxer in Greece. No doubt there will be some keen supporters attending the bout to witness a part of Greek boxing history.
