Greek Police Still Looking for Xeros

Christodoulos XerosGreek Anti-Terrorist police are on high alert after the escape of Christodoulos Xeros, who took leave from Korydallos prison and never returned.
Authorities believe that the former November 17 member is in hiding in Athens, Greece. All of his relatives and friends have been under close scrutiny as the authorities believe that his inner circle may know where he is hiding, or even that they helped with the escape and have covered his tracks.
It is believed that Xeros left Halkidiki on Sunday disguised as a priest, on route to Athens. Based on his description, the former November 17 member is weak looking with short hair, very different from the previous pictures of him.
One of the last people to see Xeros before his escape was his younger brother Avgoustinos, who said he wasn’t surprised at what has happened. “The political movement my brother set up shows that we all need to wake up and stop supporting this corrupt system that is ruining our country. I can only say that he is not in Albania. There is no reason for him to go abroad,” said Avgoustinos.
“As to whether he is going to call any of us, I doubt it. They are watching everyone closely and my brother wants to start a revolution. We will see what happens,” he added.
Alicia Romero Cortez, wife of Savvas Xeros who was discharged from Larissa Hospital, was also a person of interest in the case of November 17. According to her, almost 12 years after the revelations about the terrorist organization, Savvas “feels regret about all the lives he took.” But she added, “He was fighting for his country which he loves very much. Whether he was wrong or right, only history will show.”
