Internship Program for Greek Immigrants in Germany

Flag-Pins-Germany-Greece The German-Hellenic Business Association DHW undertook the implementation of the program for training young Greek immigrants  in Cologne, Germany.

This innovative program called «KAUSA Servicestelle Köln» is exclusively financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany with 360,000 Euros, and starts in October lasting three years.

Thomas Rachel, the philhellene Deputy Minister of Education and Research of Germany and Christian Democrat MP, attended the presentation of the program. He stated that DHW was selected by the Ministry to implement the “KAUSA Servicestelle Köln,” because similar programs brought out during previous years went very well.

Among the collaborating institutes are the Institution of Labour, Consulates , Chambers, various youth and parents organizations, schools, business associations, trade unions, churches, communities etc, while targeted campaigns will be organized. Similar pilot centers  are planned in five other cities of Germany, in Dortmund, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Stuttgart and Berlin.

The program is made for young people who have been living in Germany for many years, and also to those who have come to Germany due to the crisis. The latter will have the opportunity to be properly informed on everything they need to know if they want to work equally in Germany. Rachel hopes that with the above program, the German experience of dual training (in school and in business) will be transferred more easily to countries of southern Europe, such as Greece. As he said during his recent trip to Athens, he discussed the issue of training with the Minister of Education, Constantinos Arvanitopoulos and the Minister of Labor, Ioannis Vroutsis.
