Open Discussion on Greek Language to Be HeldAn open discussion on issues concerning the Greek language is being sponsored by major a Greek-American organization on Sunday afternoon, 1 p.m. at the Stathakeion Culture Center in Astoria on 22-51 29th St., The event is sponsor by the Federation of Hellenic American Educators, Hellenic Paideia Organization (E.P.A.), Prometheus Greek Teachers Association with participation by the Athenian Society and, the Hellenic Medical Society of New York. The event is being supported by the Theodore & Erica Spyropoulos Foundation. Theodore Kalmoukos will speak on “The Prospects of Greek Education” after which a discussion period will follow. “The Federation of Hellenic American Educators is planning to expand,” explained Vasiliki Filiotis, a member and President of the Hellenic Paideia Organization. “Our aim is to promote Greek language, literature, history, art and science. A joint cooperation will be created with Greek-American organizations. The Hellenic Paideia Organization’s goal is to encourage Greek-Americans and their friends to speak the Greek language.
