The Centaurus Racing Team is a group of Greek students from the University of Thessaly, which deals with the study, design and construction of the single-seater car formula. The car is designed based on rules of global competition “Formula Student” which includes teams from around the world.
In September the team ranked  first in business presentation, in the Italian city Varano, while plans for the New Year seem to be optimistic.
The team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Volos in Greece was founded in 2009 on the initiative of students and since then has participated in three levels of this competition. Distinction came in 2011, when they came first in auto design.
The following year they participated in both designing and constructing with some mechanical parts at Silverstone, England, winning 3rd place in designing and 5th in business presentation. The first car by the University of Thessaly was completed in June 2013. The team, honoring the traditions of their hometown named the car after the most famous centaur, Chiron.
