Alexander Payne to be Honored at Savannah Film Festival

Alexander-Payne-Downsizing-Nebraska-colorAcademy Award-winning director Alexander Payne will be honored at this year’s Savannah Film Festival. The Greek-American filmmaker is set to receive an “Outstanding Achievement in Cinema” award at the event, which takes place in Georgia from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2.

Payne’s latest project, “Nebraska,” is on deck to open the festival. Shot in black and white, the film centers on an estranged father (Bruce Dern) who calls on his son (Will Forte) to take him on a road trip from Montana to Nebraska in order to claim a million dollar sweepstakes prize. It is already receiving rave reviews and quite a bit of Oscar buzz.
