Unemployment in Cyprus Rose to 31.7 % in July

db2accc1807bdcf66e352381fdbe9504_LThe number of the recorded unemployed in Cyprus rose in July and reached 48,112 people (31.7 percent) compared to 47,594 in June 2013, according to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on August 5.
The young unemployed under 25 years-old amounted to 5,540, while the unemployment rate is higher for the age group of 30 to 39, where it reached 11,401 people.
According to official data, women constitute more than half of the total number of the unemployed, which makes 24,742. A large number of unemployed are people with higher education, while of the total number of unemployed people registered in Cyprus, 18,085 have finished secondary education.
