Four Greek Films in Karlovy Vary Festival

SeptemberFour Greek films will be featured at the 48th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, that takes place from June 29 to July 6.

One, September, a Penny Panayotopoulou production, which focuses on the existential problems of a solitary woman, will be projected at the festival’s Official Selection-Competition section.

The film Hara (Joy) by Elias Yannakakis will be shown in the Another View section, while the film The Capsule by Athina Rachel Tsangari will be in the Imagina section.

The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas by Elina Psykou, which was projected at Works in Progress section of Karlovy Vary in 2012, is now on Variety’s Ten Euro Directors to Watch, impressing the American film bible.

The festival started with the screening of the French film Mood Indigo (L’ Ecume Des Jours) by Michel Gondry, which focuses on the power of love and combines fantasy and surrealism with reality, starring Audrey Tautou and Romain Duris.

John Travolta attended the opening ceremony and was awarded the festival’s Crystal Globe. On June 29, the film Grease, in which the famous actor had the leading male role, was projected in a summer cinema room before 2,300 spectators.
