German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schäeuble, will visit Athens on July 18 invited by his counterpart Yannis Stournaras, as he himself announced during talks at the Commission of the German Bundestag, the national Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Schäeuble rejected a new restructuring of the Greek debt, while he is against scaremongering concerning the course of the Greek economy.
“If tourists hear catastrophic news, they will cancel their bookings to Greek tourist resorts,” he said. “This is why the media should project a realistic and not catastrophic image of the country.”
Earlier, the German government spokesman, Steffen Zaimpert, welcomed the formation of the new Greek government and stated that Berlin will support it by any means in its reform project under the condition that it will fulfill all of its obligations.
