Greek Ministries, IOBE Bomb Targets

GAZ_589_355The Foundation For Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE) and the Ministry for Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works were targeted with gas canisters at 3 a.m.
The first attack occurred in the New World, Athens, in the IOBE building. The perpetrators placed six gas canisters which they detonated. The explosion that followed caused minor damage to the entrance of the building.
In the second attack, five minutes later, an incendiary device consisting of four gas canisters was used against the Ministry for Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works in Ambelokipoi, where there were also minor damages reported. There were no injuries in either attack.
The third arson attack on June 3, was against the political office of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, G. Sourlas, on  Mihalakopoulou Street. The perpetrators managed to reach the fifth floor of the building and place gas canisters.
The explosion occurred at eight in the morning. Despite the fact that the perpetrators detonated the device at a time when people were in the building, fortunately there were no injuries.
However, two women who live next to Sourlas’ office inhaled smoke when they opened their apartment door to see what was going on, and had to be carried to the hospital to be examined.
