Anthony Antapassis Passes Away

image33The well-known and distinguished jurist Anthony Antapassis passed away on April 29 at the age of 71. He was Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law at the University of Athens and a lawyer of the Supreme Court of Greece.
He was distinguished in Maritime Law, where he was considered internationally as an authority. His scientific work and activity have been important. He was president of the Legislative Committee on the reform of the Code of Private Maritime Law until his death. He was the organizer and president of the seven international Maritime Law Conferences of the Piraeus Bar Association.
He had also been president of the Law School of Athens in the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens in 2001-2003. He was an honorary member of Comité Maritime International and president of the Hellenic Union of Maritime Law.
He was arbitrator of the International Chamber of Commerce and of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. As a lawyer, he  worked in Piraeus and specialized in shipping and commercial cases.
Antapassis’ funeral will be held on April 30, at 1:00 pm, at the First Cemetery of Athens.
