Thessaloniki Protocol of Surrender on Permanent Display

protocol thessalonikiFrom April 4 on, the Protocol of the Surrender of Thessaloniki will remain permanently inĀ  Thessaloniki as a legacy of its long history. The Protocol, which was signed on October 26, 1912, will be hosted and exhibited at the War Museum of Thessaloniki after coordinated actions of the Minister of Macedonia and Thrace, Theodore Karaoglou.
The handover ceremony will be held at the War Museum of Thessaloniki on April 4, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Michael Kostarakos.
Along with the Protocol, the especially designed area of the War Museum will also host the authentic desk of Tahsin Pasha on which the Protocol was signed, donated by Athanasios Flokas to the War Museum. Also, the anniversary Greek flag which was hoisted at Thessalonikiā€™s landmark, the White Tower, on September 27, 2012, as a part of the event of the Celebration of the Flag: In the footsteps of the liberators, which was held in the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Karolos Papoulias and the visitors’ book of the exhibition, Heirlooms of the Liberation 1912-1913, as well as memorabilia and archival material of the anniversary activities of the Ministry of Macedonia and Thrace.
The first Greek flag hoisted at the White Tower on October 28, 1912 is also displayed in the same area, right next to which is the hall where heirlooms of the liberation of Macedonia are on permanent display at the War Museum.
