Sydney Hosts 11th Clergy-Laity Assembly

arxiep.australiasFour Hundred members of the Greek Diaspora will participate in the 11th Clergy-Laity Assembly of the Australian Archdiocese, which will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20, in Sydney. The Assembly, which will be completed onĀ  Jan. 23, is going to take place in the venues of St. Spyridon Parish, in Kingsford.

This prestigious event, held every four years, will be attended by representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the spokesman of the Archdiocese of Crete and eminent Greek academic, while the official launch of the Clergy Assembly, on Sunday evening, will be attended and honored by several political representatives of Australia.

The Organizing Committee said that the Archdiocese of Australia has played an important role in the peaceful co-existence between all ethnic groups of the country. It is also highlighted the fact that the event was held due to the inspiring spiritual guidance by the side of the Archbishop of Australia during the last 38 years. It is also noted that the Archdiocese of Australia believes in “the future of Australia through its Loyal Cooperation with Asia.”

The chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Clergy Assembly, Bishop Seraphim of Appolonias, said that the gist of the matter is associated with the churchā€™s struggle and added that there will be a massive representation. “The Clergy-Laity Assembly is the supreme body to take decisions for the Archdiocese of Australia,” Bishop Seraphim said.
