Spray Threats On Jerusalem Greek Monastery

Greek Orthodox monastery in JerusalemA Greek Orthodox monastery in Jerusalem has been defaced by vandals with graffiti that stated “Death to Christianity” and “Jesus, son of a whore,” officials said on Dec. 12.

The overnight attack on the Monastery of the Cross was the latest in a series of vandalism of Christian holy sites. The words “Price Tag” were daubed on a vandalized car parked outside the 11th-Century building, a form of retribution used by protesters in retaliation for acts they consider to be pro-Palestinian.

It was thought that militant Jewish settlers were responsible and police said they were investigating that possibility as well as other angles. Israel has been moving to expand its settlements on Palestinian lands. suspected.

Extremists have carried out similar “price tag” attacks on other churches, mosques and Israeli military bases. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the defacing of the church. Israel has 155,000 Christian citizens, less than 2 percent of its nearly 8 million people.
