Astrophysicist Coustenis a French Star

Greek astrophysicist Athena Coustenis has been honored by France-Euro-Mediterranean FEM, for her outstanding scientific career.  She was among eight other prominent women from across the Mediterranean, who have well established themselves professionally.

She is Director of Research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) as well as an ESA and NASA consultant.

She works in the field of Planetology and her research is devoted to the investigation of planetary atmospheres and surfaces, with emphasis on Titan, Saturn’s largest satellite.

For the 5th year FEM hosted the award Reussite au Feminin, with the support of outstanding personalities from the world of politics and literature. The awards were presented by Bariza Khiari, Vice-President of the French Senate.

In  the gilt ceremonial hall of the Senate, Coustenis was asked first, out of the nine winners, to receive the statuette prize together with a commemorative papyrus with an original calligraphy of the famous Iraqi artist Alani Ghani.
