Tom Hanks Going to be ‘Lucky Guy’ on Broadway

Tom Hanks is heading to the Great White Way for the first time in his impressive acting career. The Oscar winner is making his Broadway debut in the late Nora Ephron’s “Lucky Guy.”

The story follows tabloid reporter Mike McAlary, who became famous for covering the New York City police beat during the 1980s and 1990s. McAlary won a Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the brutal police beating of Abner Louima in 1998, but passed away later that year at the age of 41 due to colon cancer.

Hanks previously took the lead on two film adaptations of Ephron’s works – “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail.”

George C. Wolfe is slated to stage direct “Lucky Guy,” which will head into previews March 1, 2013 at the Broadhurst Theater and officially have its opening night on April 1.
