German Fin Ministry: We Need to Wait for Troika Report

Martin Kotthaus
The German government declined Monday to comment on reports in the German media about a widening gap in the funding need for Greece that could require additional financing.
According to Dow Jones, the German government has “no reliable data” to make any assessment about Greece΄s financing needs, Finance Ministry Spokesman Martin Kotthaus told a routine government news conference.
“We need to wait for the troika report,” he said, referring to the conclusion of a fact-finding trip by a commission of experts from the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
German media reported over the weekend that Greece needs an additional 20 billion euros ($26 billion) in addition to the aid already approved.
