Greece Beats Lithuania 2-0 in World Cup Qualifier

Sotiris Ninis and substitute Costas Mitroglou scored in the second half as Greece beat Lithuania 2-0 Tuesday for its second straight win in World Cup qualifying.
Ninis beat keeper Zydrunas Karcemarskas with a shot in the 55th minute after Mitroglou hit the crossbar with a header and Lithuania’s defenders failed to clear the ball.
Mitroglou sealed the Group G match in the 72nd, finishing at close range after a one-two with Ninis.
The Greeks worked hard for their goals, with striker Fanis Gekas missing two headers in the first half and Karcemarskas working well with his defenders to hold the hosts back.
The visitors rarely threatened, however, and finished the game without a single clear chance.
