Two More Medals for Greek Paralympic Athletes

Greece’s Paralympic team has now won eight medals after Aristidis Makrodimitris gained a silver and Paschalis Stathelakos a bronze at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Swimmer Makrodimitris finished second in the 50-meter backstroke in the S2 final at 1:04:71 after getting a bronze earlier in the Men’s 100-meter freestyle.
Stathelakos won his second medal as well in shot put F40. After his performance, he told Greek media that he and his Greek Paralympic fellow athletes feel that the Greek state has abandoned them.
The Greek squad – as did the Olympic team – had fewer participants this year and complained that the government does not care about them. The Paralympic team is having much more success than their Olympic counterparts did.
