Singer/songwriter Lianne La Havas released her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough in the UK in July, and it entered at an impressive No. 4 on the music charts. Today, the Greek/Jamaican artist’s album drops in the U.S.
Described as a jazz/pop/soul/folk sound, the 22-year-old grew up surrounded by music. La Havas’ father Henry Vlahavas, of Greek descent, is an accomplished instrumentalist. Her Jamaican mother had an eclectic taste in music, playing Jill Scott, Billie Holiday, Prince and Mary J. Blige for the young singer as she was growing up.
Late last year, La Havas was nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll. Is Your Love Big Enough, released through Warner Bros. music group, was recorded in Brooklyn, NY and Los Angeles, CA. It has already received rave reviews in Europe. Check out the title song and video:
